Although Patrick has never suffered a single defeat in 2,000 mock battles and is unquestionably skilled as a pilot, his inflated sense of self and belligerence are viewed as problems by the top brass.
He also falls in love at first sight with Kati Mannequin, his commanding officer, and takes advantage of every opportunity to try to win her affections.
Patrick was selected from among many to be the test pilot for the AEU Enact, a cutting-edge Mobile Suit. However, Celestial Being's Gundam Exia showed up during the training exercises and destroyed the AEU Enact as part of the organization's first armed intervention. Patrick thus suffered the disgrace of becoming the first pilot in the world to lose to a Gundam. To redeem himself, he went on to fight Gundams countless times. Although he always lost, he always made it home in one piece, and people soon started calling him "the Immortal Colasour."
