A boy who became a refugee after Zeon's attack on SIDE 7, and escaped aboard the Federation Forces warship White Base. He is serious, responsible, and cooperative, but harbors a strong dislike for Amuro Ray (whose father was in the military) because he was forced to abandon his home so the military could build a base. He joined the White Base Corps as a Guntank gunner to compete with Amuro, who was becoming a skilled Gundam pilot. However, he realized that his abilities were no match for Amuro's talent, and has nursed worries over his own worth ever since. While originally a Guntank pilot, he later changed to piloting the Guncannon.
